Foley Sonoma Winery
Touring around the Chalk Hill Wineries, they are all part of the Foley Family of wines. We stopped at Foley Sonoma on one of our trips south. A beautiful entryway leads to the tasting room overlooking their vine testing area.
This particular day there was a lot of smoke in the air, a LOT! – all the way from Humboldt to San Francisco. It had been around a few days so there might be some smoke flavor in the 2017 vintage.
2015 Osborn Semillion Blanc. This is a blend with some Chardonnay which gives it more depth than usual with this varietal. Caramel notes and pineapple upside down cake.
2016 Rose – Light skin contact. Delicate, sweet.
2015 Sangiovese – Bright Fruit.
2014 Patty’s Patch Zinfandel – Big fruit, a little sour and a little tannic.
2014 Old Vine Zinfandel – Soft mouth feel. Moe sugar, too tannic. left my mouth unhappy.
Merlot – Again with the tannins – unripe persimmon. Nice big fruit.
Chardonnay – A light feel with a lot of alcohol and nice fruit.
