Kona Haven Coffee
Tucked in the back just south of Lava Java on Ali’i Drive is Kona Haven Coffee. It might look like you should just go on by but that could be a mistake for coffee adventurists. Inside they have a nice cold brew setup as well as a nitrogen charger.
We stopped in mid-day specifically for a Nitro Cloud. It was delicious – creamy and cold. What a treat.
We also went home with a bag of their Kona de Pele coffee. There is a big sign in the store that says “12.5 miles from our farm.” So of course, I asked where the farm is. The well-meaning and helpful girl said “Captain Cook.” When I asked whereabouts in Captain Cook she said, “Above there, up in the mountains.” Geography aside, this is really nice coffee.
The roast is perfect for our taste and the beans are nicely uniform for the most part. The flavor is quite representative of the minerality of the Captain Cook appellation.
This is a nice stop when you are in kailua. The cold options are great for a hot summer day. Their website says they do Farm Tours, looks like you have to call to arrange that.
